StepWise is designed to operate with minimal data collection:

• Health Data: The app accesses your step count, walking distance, and estimated calories from Apple HealthKit. This data is read-only and remains stored exclusively in Apple Health on your device.
• App Preferences: Your settings (daily step goal, notification preferences, unit preferences) are stored locally on your device using iOS system storage.
• Subscription Status: When you purchase a subscription, your payment and subscription information is processed and managed by Apple through the App Store. We only receive a subscription status confirmation from Apple.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Display Your Progress: Health data from HealthKit is used solely to display your daily steps, distance, calories, and historical trends within the app.
• Goal Tracking: Your daily step goal is used to calculate progress and send optional local notifications.
• Subscription Features: Your subscription status determines whether ads are displayed in the app.

3. Data Storage and Security

• Local Storage Only: All your health data, step history, and preferences are stored locally on your device. We do not use remote servers or cloud storage.
• No Account Required: StepWise does not require login, signup, or any personal identification.
• HealthKit Protection: Access to your health data is protected by iOS HealthKit permissions and Apple's security infrastructure.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Specifically:

• No Analytics Services: We do not use third-party analytics or tracking tools.
• No Social Sharing: The app has no social features or data sharing capabilities.
• HealthKit Data: Your health data is never transmitted outside your device.

5. Advertising

For users on the free tier, we display advertisements through Google AdMob:

• Non-Personalized Ads: All ads are non-personalized and do not use your personal information for targeting.
• COPPA Compliant: Our advertising implementation is designed to comply with children's privacy regulations.
• Ad-Free Option: Premium subscribers (Weekly or Yearly plans) do not see any advertisements.
• Third-Party Ad Content: While we control ad frequency and placement, ad content is provided by third-party advertisers through Google AdMob.

6. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

• Apple Payment Processing: All subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store.
• Payment Information: We do not have access to your payment information (credit card, billing address, etc.). This is handled entirely by Apple.
• Subscription Management: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings.

7. Notifications

If you enable notifications in the app settings:

• Local notifications are generated entirely on your device
• We do not send push notifications from a remote server
• You can disable notifications at any time in app settings or iOS Settings

8. Children's Privacy

StepWise does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app:

• Does not require account creation or personal information
• Uses only non-personalized advertising
• Keeps all health data on the device
• Has no social features or communication capabilities

9. Your Rights and Choices

You have complete control over your data:

• HealthKit Access: You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → StepWise
• Data Deletion: Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. HealthKit data remains in Apple Health.
• Notifications: You can enable or disable notifications in app settings or iOS Settings
• Subscription Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with a new "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
